When specifying a prospecting  system for a green-field wind or solar project many  clients will look to save costs with inferior systems. Keep in mind that many very viable wind & solar sites have been sold well under their true value due to poor or non IEC compliant monitoring systems.

Wind Turbine Power Curve Verification systems will generally be designed as part of the wind farm site development. These systems must be of the highest quality, performance and accuracy as the final turbine  performance acceptance are based on this data. Poor or inaccurate PCV data can have large ramifications for the  wind farm project. ART can design and supply turn-key PCV measurement systems which measure the turbine performance hand-in-hand with the wind speed measurements from the met mast.

Pre-Packaged Systems

The pre-packaged systems below are standardised and can be built and deployed rapidly. Some of these systems are already pre-built and are ready for shipment – these systems have been tested before packing and therefore are not able to be modified or altered at the stated prices. These systems have been priced at a discounted rate.

The following configuration and quantity of instruments are suggested layouts only. Although these layouts have been based on carefully researched information (provided by wind farm design and management companies) as preferred system layouts from a data collection, analysis and bank-ability perspective; it is in no way a claim as to the best layout for any specific application.  

Please ensure that you have satisfied your own site specific research for your particular site before choosing these options.

Loggers

A selection of logger options are described briefly below. Accessory packs, expansion modules and modems are generally required in a complete system.

 

Remote communications for Campbell Scientific loggers:

ART offer two default options –  our Standard remote communications system, and an Advanced communications system.  Almost any level of customisable remote communications is available – please inquire with ART.

Standard remote communications:

  • 3G modem with dial-in capability
  • Data stored on logger is normally delivered once per day via email or FTP
  • Remote access to logger is via dial-in modem
  • SMS capabilities are standard – send SMS to logger to receive responses including logger data and status
  • SMS responses can be customised

Advanced remote communications:

  • 3G modem/router with DynDNS and VPN capability (PPTP, IPsec & OpenVPN)
  • Data stored on logger is normally delivered once per day via email or FTP
  • Remote access to logger is via internet or smartphone app
  • 24 hour internet access is available however standard allowance is for daytime internet access (eg 8am-6pm)

Cabinets and Enclosures

Although small mast-mounted enclosures are the most common cabinets used in wind monitoring systems, walk-in stand alone cabinets can be a practical option for permanent wind farm based systems.
