Design Specifications
Structural design is in accordance with the following standards:
• Building Code of Australia
• AS 1170 SAA Loading Code Pt 1 Dead and Live Loads
• AS 1170 SAA Loading Code Pt 2 Wind Forces.
• AS 1554 SAA Welding Code
• AS 3600 SAA Concrete Structures Code
• AS 4100 SAA Steel Structures Code
• AS 3995 SAA Design of Steel Ladders, Towers & Masts
• AS 3995 Cl. 3.5 Weld Standard AS 4100 class SP(special purpose weld)
Fabrication Specification
Fabrication is carried out using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (G.M.A.W) process in accordance with the above design specifications and meets all relevant Australian Standards.
• Fabrication is in accordance with the drawings provided.
• AS 4100 Steel Structures Code.
• AS 3995 Cl 3.5 Weld Standard.
• Only “Special Purpose Welding” qualified tradesmen carry out welding.
• Each mast section is ID stamped.
• Records kept of each section fabricated as follows:
- ID number.
- Date of manufacture.
- Name and license no of Welder.
- Weld wire and Gas batch No.e) Name and address of Steel Merchant.
- Name and address of Galvanizer.
- Independent certification of weld quality in accordance with: AS 1171/AS 1554,1. Is provided
Inspections
• Finished product will be available for inspecting by the end user at a time and place of mutual convenience prior to erection.
• Weld inspection/test certificate is available with each mast.
• The mast must be inspected, section by section by the installer prior to erection to check for any obvious defects that may have occurred during manufacture or transport to site.
